The table shows the trade in one line: a long series gives you the same free start as a short one, so the share you see for free shrinks as the series grows. In a 5-episode series the free episodes are close to half of the story; in the longest ones they are a small opening. That is neither good nor bad, but it changes what the first two episodes can tell you. With a short series you have seen a good part of it before paying; with a long one you have seen the setup.
It depends on how you count value. Per paid episode, a long series costs exactly what a short one costs, because Candy prices episodes, not series. Per series, it costs several times more, and with Premium's monthly tokens alone it can take months to reach the last episode. If you like a premise and want more of it, a long series is the only way Candy offers that; if you would rather sample many premises, the same tokens finish several short series instead. The token bill lets you put a long series next to a few short ones and compare the totals before you spend anything.
One practical point: you do not have to decide up front. Tokens are spent one episode at a time, so you can open the paid episodes of a long series one by one and stop whenever the story stops working for you.
